Oculus Magazine
Oculus is an independent publication exploring issues relevant to architectural discourse and practice in the New York region.
Oculus is a quarterly magazine published by the AIA New York Chapter under the editorial supervision of Kristen Richards, Hon. ASLA, with guidance and support from the Chapter Oculus Committee. It is mailed to all members of AIA New York State, to a cohort of complimentary subscribers such as libraries and universities and to paying subscribers. Current circulation is about 8000.
Oculus magazine is an important means of asserting the identity and advocacy of architects in New York, and an important vehicle for publicizing the work of the Chapter and Foundation at the Center for Architecture. The editor coordinates a staff of freelance writers to develop the articles. Each issue carries an overarching theme, with the spring issue devoted primarily to the AIA New York Chapter “Presidential Theme” and the summer issue featuring the winning projects of the annual AIANY Design Awards.
